Xenophobe not looking so hot

Posted by YungJazz Jun. 23, 2009 @ 5:02 PM EDT

I have made it to two finished scenes on Xenophobe after all this time aaaand...I don't like it that much. So my summer promise may not come true. I'll upload what I have done. BUT PEOPLE WHO CONTRIBUTED DONT WORRY, I'M JUST RESTARTING THE ANIMATION, NOT THE STORY, PROJECT OR VOICE ACTING!

I need to ease up though, job hunting is hindering me artistically, I've neglected a promise to make my buddy DJ Delinquent art for his game and haven't drawn much at all lately. So Xenophobe will have to hold til later this year, I'm afraid I don't have time for a 20 minute movie at the moment.

Sexless and jobless yet still, I disappear into the real world from DA & NG yet again. Here's a scene from the flick if you want proof I haven't been just sitting around.

Also...I lost my tablet pen, Photoshop art go bye bye until I find a new job T_T

Hot shit son, The style changes weren't too noticeable but did look a bit fitting towards the end. Also you should watch the sound, some of the dialogue was drowned out by SFX and whatnot... Unless of course you could have cared less being that this is just a clip and not a final product. But yeh, if you do make that flash as long as you planned it'll be awesome, toss in a few good FbF action/fight scenes and it'll be the new hotness...

Also big kudos to your voice actors! They really did a great job. Good to see such big changes graphically and vocally with your flashes...

Jun. 24, 2009 | 7:58 AM YungJazz responds:

That's what I'm planning with this one, I just need to gather my ideas, I'm getting scatterbrained again. Thanks though, yup my VA's keep me pretty entertained while I'm animating too

The animation for the humans is actually pretty nice. Im surprised you dont like it but its always nice to strive for better.

I did have an issue with the way the little camera robots moved in the beginning tho

i dunno man, looks fine to me... You need to stop playing the tormented artist who's his own worst enemy... seriously, just have fun and get your projects out, instead of making a post telling us how much you suck every time you animate a scene.

The movement is very fluid and the detail is very nice. Sure, there's still room for improvement, and the angles and pace could be better. But your animation gets the point across, and shows an appreciable amount of effort, so just finish it up, export, submit, and move on to your next animation. Stop letting your work go to waste, we don't need a "Broken Glazz 2".

We all know how you feel, especially since xenophobe is so close to the chest for you, you want to do it justice. We all have our babies, our stories and characters we're the most passionate about, and that we'll never feel like we're good enough to do justice. Believe me, I've been too afraid to animate the next LR flash for years now. If you really don't feel like you're ready, just put this series on hold for a while and work on some other animations to improve your skills. That's what I've been doing.

Jun. 24, 2009 | 10:31 AM YungJazz responds:

haha, yeah tormented artist is my favorite game unfortunately. that is what i plan to do, though, is let this one sit for a few months and make some smaller stuff in between. this was just some bad planning on my part that's easily fixed.
